ZVI-1 Zone Valve Interface Board

ZVI-1 Zone Valve Interface Board

The ZVI-1 Zone Valve Interface board is a replacement for ZDC FareShare or Mastertek International zone valve boards that powers and initiates counts to the electro-mechanical sub-metering counter modules.  Up to four zones can be interfaced with the ZVI-1 .  The ZVI-1 derives it’s power supply from the 24VAC zone that it is monitoring so no additional power supply is necessary.  The ZVI-1 is wired in parallel with the valve coil such that when the valve is energized by the thermostat and open, the counter is enabled.

Applications include hot water boiler sub-metering systems

The ZVI-1 contains four high light output red LED’s, one for each zone, and a master RED LED indicating that the 1Hz counter is operating.  In this manner, the counter has 1 second resolution on the valves that are tied to it.  Power is supplied by one or more of the thermostat circuits being enabled.  Provision is made to read the power supply voltage with a DVM meter if desired.  ZVI-1’s input and output circuits’ terminals are “Euro” type connectors.  When the stripped wire has been correctly installed in the terminal’s slot, no conductive parts are exposed on the surface of the terminal strip.

The ZVI-1’s transistor outputs are rated at 500mA (.5A) to drive electromechanical counters with solenoid actuators.  The ZVI-1’s outputs also has a built-in transient protection.   The ZVI-1 is designed to exactly mount inside the ZDC FareShare or MasterTek enclosures, making replacement fast and easy.
